If I count right this setup gives you 15 potential combinations of coils....but this wouldn't work out as nice as it does if one were to use it with normal humbuckers. These Seymour Duncan P-Rails have a rail p/u which is thinner and deeper than the P-90 which is flat and fatter. Therefore, since the two pickups are in different positions....you get four coils with distinctly differnt tones. Doing this with a normal humbucker...you'd get the same number of combinations but many of them wouldn't sound that much different from others.

As it is....the level of output is quite dynamic for passive pickups. You can strum using one rail coil or go to a high output lead with a humbucker with one flip of a switch. This is great gigging setup.
