Guys .... I asked this over on the main forum but ... lots of thoughts but no one that has actually tried a solution.

I'm interested in putting a logo on a case. I thought I might be able to spray paint with a stencil ... and I will try soon ... but I'm concerned about overspray. Has anyone tried this? Suggestions? Advise? Alternatives? My logo is simple ... looking for someone that's done this one way or the other.

Thanks!

Filippo

A case made of what, exactly?

Once of the niftier looks I've seen lately is a PCB (blank, copper clad, preferably black on the bottom, but you can always mask and paint) that's been etched or milled so the copper stays on the surface (the logo) in relief, with the epoxy/resin material remaining behind. Bit of lacquer and it looks great. There's also the option of 'simply' etching copper sheeting (google Steampunk workshop or steampunk strat for inspirado).

We had a case supplier send us a sample. They cheaped out and used a stencil and spray paint. It looked terrible. The textured surface of the tolex let overspray under the stencil.

I did this with blue painters tape an exacto knife and latex paint. i did it hastily back in september 2010. its been on the road and tossed around and still looks just as crappy as the day i put it on. i will do it again this way, except this time i will do it with patience.
im sure you have figured out your own way by now. anyway, this is what it looks like.
