Nice wood, Jimmy. Fiddle-back figure is my favorite.
Looks like a neck through?
What's the body gonna be made of?

Thanks!
Alan,
The body will probably be sapele after I can score a chunk big enough, and it wont be neck through, those aren't that long, they just have a stacked heel piece with them, but I dont stack my heels, so I will use it to glue on the ears and whatnot.

Looks like it'll be nice, Jimmy. Top wood is sweet!
About walnut, love yours. A friend of mine gave me a piece of an old walnut log that's about 26"X4"X12". It's well seasoned, and the grain looks lovely, but there are cracks all through it. I'm going to cut it into 1"X4" strips and see if i can work around some of the splits and get a neck blank from it. If not, I'll find some kind of use for it. The walnut's beautiful. If nothing else I might be able to get bindings or head plates out of it.

Walnut is pretty awesome, I made my telecaster neck out of claro walnut and I love it. I like the feel, the look, everything. The current problem I am having is that it looks so awesome when you spray it, but I like my necks to be bare. So I am having a battle between form and function.

jimmy don't spray it. Use tru-oil or some type of penetrating oil. It will make it even slicker and smooth as a baby's rear!

Spray two coats of vinyl sealer then steel wool it. Feels just like bare wood, to me anyway.

I finally got the top in! Thought I would take a pic of it together. I'm gonna have to hone my skills a little more before I use this stuff, I dont want to mess this wood up, it's too nice. I'm sure some of you are getting sick of me posting so much, but at least I keep it very active in here! :D
