This is a friends melody maker, it looks like an original but has been butchered. I think it could be a 1950 or something.
I dont know that much about electrics but the bridge was replaced with a tremolo and seems to be sitting to far back.
Im sure the intention is all off. It has also been sanded and re finished. Definitely not the original tuners.
Now it has a broken head stock.

Seems like a good opportunity to practice some repair skills.

Any advice on glueing the headstock back on will be greatly appreciated.

Don Teeter's book also deals with this repair.
These breaks are even more common with the 'Epiphone' guitars from China which have very weak wood in the necks.

Thats an amazing repair job by Frank! he's the man. The Galloup link is quite helpful as well.
Between the two examples I think I have a pretty good Idea what to do.
