Does anyone know where I can get shielded pickup wire, (preferably in the UK), that doesn't cost an arm and a leg????
I only say in the UK because of postage costs!
How about computer wire, the sort of thing that comes from the power units and stuff, maybe even ethernet wires ( which are like phone wires), for the non-shielded? I've had a look at some and they seem to be about the same sort of gauge.
It's just that I know a computer repair place, and I can get as much of that sort of thing I want, at a really good price, AND I'm doing my bit for re-cycling
Cheers.

Stevie, You might try Alpha Wire UK or info@alphawire.
There are many outlets in the UK.
You might also try Chandlers or Mansons repair dept.
Best of luck in your search.
Brett

Thanks Brett, I'll have a look.
Any thoughts on using the computer wire?

Just about any wire will work, computer, headphone, old rca cables. You just want something in a gauge that you can work with, not so tiny that you will be breaking wires and not so big that it is cumbersome. Also some wire has insulation that just can't take any heat, so that when you try to solder it the insulation just melts off, avoid that kind. Basically, try it and if it works, it works!
