I was wondering if its possible to use a seymour duncan bridge humbucker (or any brand really) in the neck position. I'm working on a build and already have the pickup and i don't want to buy a new one. thanks

Bridge pickups usually have more output than neck pickups. Since you already have the pickup, why not try it! If you do not like the sound, then it will be time to change it... not a very complicated task!

thanks alot! luckily even if i don't like the sound it really doesn't matter, i tend to only use the bridge pickup anyway.

I have a partscaster that I built from used parts. At the time I had two humbuckers, but both were bridge models.Since I wanted to build from parts I already had laying around(ie;cheaply), what I did was put the warmer sounding of the two in the neck position. It's been there ever since. Sounds great! As far as pickup output goes, as long as there's not a huge difference between the two many times you can adjust the height of each pickup relative to one another until they blend well together volume wise, which is part of setup on electric guitar anyway, as far as I'm concerned. I, too, say try it. You just might like it.

thanks, the only thing is I'm using a seymour duncan dimebucker in the bridge position and planning on using a seymour duncan alnico in the neck, are the two output levels too different to put together? Considering the fact that the dimebucker probably has the highest output out of any pickup made by seymour duncan.

The Duncan site lists the Alnico II as a medium output humbucker and the Dimebucker as an ultra high output humbucker. I'd think they'd work well together in the positions you've described. Again, you can increase/decrease apparent volume levels by playing with pickup height. And it won't hurt a thing to try it before you spend money on something else. Having not used these pickups, alone or in combination, that's pretty much the best advice I can give you. I'd be willing to bet that, unless they've worked with both before, that that's pretty much all anyone else could say. You only have to solder/unsolder two wires to find out. But like I said, I think they'd probably work out fine. Hope this helps.
