Post subject:  Sides cupping!

Hi everyone!

Just received my first kit today and noticed the rosewood side have cupped quite a bit.
My outside mild and full spreaders(LMI style) are not ready yet. What are your recommandation since when I push them back flat the sides seem close from breaking?

Thank you.

I meant mold.

They look OK to me, they are just getting use to your environment. When you have your mold either clamp them in or use you spreaders mainly to keep the waist bend. When you finally glue on the blocks the ends will stop warping.

Thanks for your answer John.
I still believe that the way those rims are, they'll crack if clamped flat.
Just to clarify, I tend to believe that such cupping occure when moisture is removed...right?
I leave in Phoenix, az but keep my wood in a room at 40% humidity.
Should I consider adding moisture to the rims?

cupping can happen when one side has a bit more moisture than the other. Moisture expands the wood, drying shrinks it back. I can not tell from the pictures but are they bowed (cupped) only on the ends or is the entire side cupped? From the pictures I do not see anything that scary.
