Post subject: | Bolt-On Guitar Kit |
I'm looking to start my first guitar kit and was wondering which one I should buy. I strongly prefer a bolt-on kit. Thanks! |

Talk to John Hall. I built two of his kits last year and I think his stuff is the best. |

I was at the Newport Guitar Festival recently and asked this question to Charlie Fox who was giving a talk on how to become a Luthier. He said eventually the neck may have to be reset, and for this reason all his guitars have bolt on necks. Lots of people were asking questions so that's the extent of the information I got, and I don't have personal experience so I'm just passing this along. Good Luck! http://www.charlesfoxguitars.com/index.html |

Plus one on recommending John Hall. He can make you a custom kit from his wood stash or sell you a Martin kit if you prefer that option. He is very helpful if you have quetions during the build which is important for beginners. |

For a 1st timer I'd suggest the Stewart Macdonald kits mainly for their execellent documentation and support. Both the Dred and 000 kits are available with bolt on necks. |

if you prefer the bolt on go for it. Nothing inferior about a bolt on acoustic guitar. Both methods are fine...Mike |
