I'm very happy that I was able to get the oversized headstock on my guitar neck cut to shape without messing anything up! My neck has a smilee volute so not really a standard Martin shape.....but regardless, I went with the Martin shaped headstock. I made a template from UHMW and used it to draw trim lines on the neck. I made the cuts with my table saw.....which is a little awkward since the taper angles the blade toward the neck. Thankfully, there was enough clearance to use the table saw. I even placed a screw on the side of the UHMW template and used it between the table saw fence and headstock while making the final cut. In the end, I trimmed the headstock close to final shape then sanded the last 0.030" or so. Here is a pic of the UHMW template I made. I may later add the tuner holes.
