I know this has been asked before, but can anyone tell me what kind of foam cord to use for vacuum hold down jigs (HDPE)? I’ve seen people say to get it at McMaster-Carr, but they easily have a dozen variants. I have no idea what to get. Joewoodworker sells foam tape for their hold down jig kit, but he says he doesn’t recommend it for CNC because it may shift (wtf?). So I’m at a loss. Thanks! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro |

I use Ultra-Weather-Resistant EPDM Foam Cords from McMaster Carr, both 1/4 inch and 1/8 inch depending on the application. It works great. Dave |

I used neoprene foam cord. Basically equivalent to EPDM in every way that matters for this application. You want it being crushed down into a channel, so the part is sitting on the fixture rather than floating on the foam. That's why tape is a bad choice for vacuum fixturing. |
