My machine is dc servo. I can find lots of stepper 4th axis but not much for servo. Anyone have a good inexpensive source? Thanks Shane |

Does your machine already have a driver for the 4th axis? If not, you could just as easily add a stepper driver instead of a servo drive. |

My thought is that a stepper driver would be sufficient for a low-motion axis like what is typically used in this application. In fact, the stepper is probably the preferred type of motor with higher torque and good accuracy at these lower speeds. Far less need for an encoder etc. As long as you can reasonably mix the two types in the system, you're probably okay. |
