Hi does anybody tend to cover the x brace joint with anything ..seen some pics of what looked like cloth but not sure any ideas ? Thanks |

I use linen saturated with whatever glue I'm using. Just a little strip to bridge the top of the junction. |

Yes. I place a spruce bridge. Part of the hocus pocus I was taught at an Ervin Somogyi seminar. He claimed you radically weakened an X brace by cutting a lap joint into it. You need to restore the lost strength. Sounds logical. Does it actually make a particle of difference? Only God an Somogyi know for sure. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

IMHO, if the joint is very tight, I'm not one to believe it makes much difference. I've put them in and left them out. I am also a big fan of Collings guitars, made here in Texas , and noticed they don't put a cap on the joint. It certainly doesn't hurt to cap it, so if you want to, go for it.
