For anyone with a hobby CNC router or milling machine, I've written a simple (& free) Windows program to generate G-codes for cutting blind fret slots using a tiny (something like 0.022" dia) end-mill. You enter in the scale length, nut width, etc. and it generates the G-code paths. If your CNC machine is not long enough to do the fret board in a single setup, it generates the proper code for you to re-position the fret board and continue cutting slots.

It generates paths for straight or fan-fret fret patterns. It also handles compound radius fret boards. You start with a pre-radiused fretboard, and each slot is cut to match the radius.

You can download the program from lobocnc.com/userapps.html. This program is part of an open-source CNC milling machine project I am starting, for anyone interested in getting into CNC. You can see a video of cutting fret slots at lobocnc.com/gallery.html.
