I'm not able to export my neck carving surface file to anything that Solidworks can open. Is there someone out there that I can hire to help out? I need them pretty soon. Thanks. |

Have you read this? http://www.rhino3d.com/partners/solidwo ... rks_us.pdf Why does it not work? Seems very straight forward, and I have done it with good results.... |

Solidworks reads IGES files exported from Rhino just fine. I've occasionally had problems with both Solidworks and MasterCAM imports of Rhino files, mainly on older versions of both, so I generally just export to IGES to avoid problems. Rhino reads Solidworks files just fine, with just a bit of weirdness (the surfaces in a solid are joined and also grouped, so you need to explode and ungroup to edit them individually). You do need to make an airtight surface in Rhino, or do patchup work in SW, to use solid modelling tools on it once it's imported. If you're really stuck, send me the 3DM and I'll send you back a Solidworks part file or tell you why it can't be converted to a solid if there's some major issue. |

Thanks for that link. I read through it. It's a good read. The communication between the Solidworks guy and myself were not good so he wasn't able to explain why he couldn't import the IGES files I was sending. PM's responded to. |

BTW, SW2011 will directly import Rhino files. I went to my friends and it took all of 2mins to get the file ready for Sheldon. Mike |
