Hey gang, I have been using my CNC for other (non-guitar) work for a few years, and it has all been flat 2D operations. Now I want to build an archtop. No problem with me modelling the top/bottom carved top and back in my CAD tool - but which CAM software? I see a few use Cut3D or Aspire. Since this is just a hobby I want to keep costs down. Anyone use SheetCAM or MeshCAM, etc.?

What do you use for 3D CAM?

If you've already got 2D handled, and you only want to carve a top, then all you need is a parallel 3D finish pass. Freemill is a cut-down version of Visual Mill that includes only that feature, so you don't need to spend a cent!
