So far, so good. It took quite a while to build the shop and make the tooling but these prototype panels were made in two days once the tooling was complete. These panels will glue together creating a body that is HIGHLY chambered. Watching a YouTube clip demonstrating the P-Rails, I think this chambering will really bring out more distinction in the tones available to that pickup.....not sure though. It's a theory. I'm trying to add versatility into this design. I'm trying to create the ability to use cad/cam in a way that allows the most variation possible. For instance; it's hard to see in the photo but the inside surfaces of those chambers follow precisely to the outside contours of the body, which is highly contoured. The difference between these surfaces is exactly .2"....and I can easily program that thickness to be any increment within .1" or .6". This will allow me to experiment to see if the "skin" thickness of this body has a serious effect on tone, which I expect to be the case as things get thinner and thinner. I can also easily program the width of the internal structural rails. The layering of the top piece will create uneven, banded stripes on the face of the body. You can get a small idea of what this will look like in this photo but the finished face should be stunning....provided the glue line between the layers isn't too pronounced....which I'm worried about. |

I like the bumps for the controls. |

Those bumps track depressions that are carved into the face. I skulpted the base of the volume knobs so they conform to these depressions nicely. It looks nice in the model.....hope I can follow through with the wood Thanks for the nice comments, guys. |

Those look good. I Like the experimental possibilities. I'm very interested in chambering guitar bodies as well. |
