I am looking for the best place to buy a 3-4 hp spindle such as and HSD, Colombo, etc. I have been in contact with the companies, but to get a really good price you have to take 50 units....... wow7-eyes

Anyone know of a place that sells a 4hp 18,000 rpm for less than $1060? That is the best quote I have had so far.

That doesn't sound like a bad price. I'd say it's more important to be pricing put a whole package designed to be as plug and play as possible.

As Sheldon said regarding the price.
Does that include the controller?

Hi guys,

No, that is just the spindle price, but one of my customers called me today with the name of a company that has slightly larger motors, 7hp, for $600. New old stock, but hey, if it works, that is even better. I have the controller and all the extra items needed to make it all work found for a little over $600.

I am going to either be retrofitting my current machine, or building a new one with the CNCBrain that has dual loop encoder feedback with position correction. I already have the Brain, but was waiting to make the change. Now that my router motor melted down on me, I might as well make the whole change at once!

Mike

ps I'll keep you posted with prices, links etc if you want.

Hi Bob,

Well as most "too good to be true things" gaah ! One was new Colombo spindles and new spindle prices.....and the other one actually dealt in new, used, and rebuilt spindles. They also had some decent prices, but everything is 434-460 volts, which makes for another link in the chain to get it all to work, at least for me.

I am single phase 230v and as old as I am don't want to start over!
