This is my first try at using software to make wooden parts so if you see anything wrong here, please clue me in. These were generated with Vectric's Partworks. I haven't moved the machine yet but mayhaps one of these days. I'm just trying to get a handle on the cad/cam stuff so I don't break it when I turn it on!! Logo profile ![]() Logo pocket ![]() |

Looks good to me ! The software has been the biggest learning curve for me also, but I'm beginning to get a handle on it. Hang in there, you are doing good! |

John, In general the most important part of the tool path is the way the cutter enters and exits the part and moves/transitions for one cut to another. Look at these areas very closely as this is where the bulk of problems occur. Pay particular attention to approach feed rates. Looks great and good luck! |

Hey....Partworks, eh? That would suggest that you bought a ShopBot.... You mean you didn't build the cnc yourself??? Lazy! or perhaps....smart. ![]() |

I thought about it for a short time but I decided I have done enough DIY projects that don't quite seem to reach their potential. Yours on the other hand looks very nice. Maybe I'll build a bigger one someday using my SB buddy. I still have not even turned it on yet and I've had it for over a month, but I've been out of town as well. I'll be home in a couple weeks and try to get going on it. |

The best advice given to me was "be prepared to waste a lot of wood." So I was. I practiced on body and neck blanks made from laminated 2x4's. I still do an "air cut" on some new partfiles. |

Right now I'm away from home so I'm doin lots of virtual cuts, but I'll start simple and go slow. |
