Hi Nelson,

I saw that some time back over on CNCZone but the kicker for me was that it does not do 3d. I need something like that for 3d. I don't want the lazer scanner thing because it outputs so much data it is hard for me to work with, considering my limited Rhino skills.

2d stuff, this thing will work big time!

2D stuff is pretty easy to do just using a digital camera & importing it into CAD to "trace". You can then do prints to check against the actual part...and if that looks good...then cut some cheap 1/4" ply or something to make a template for a final check. You'd be amazed how close you can get with a little tweaking!

Mike I tried out the David Laser software a friend had. Takes a lot of work to get a good scan. Once you get one though, the cloud is not that hard to work with. It really needs to use a CNC type of fixture for the laser though for accurate feed rates to scan and also use a green laser for better resolution.
