Did Stella ever make a resonator guitar ? I have a unit that has a neck that has the stella logo on the head , I pulled the resonator plate off and "someone" had painted silver paint in a circle under the resonater plate diretly to the top of the guitar . it has a resonater neck , but everything else screams " frankenstein" fortunitaly I have 0 dollars invested and about 1 hr in time to open it up. |

Stella produced a reso mando in the early 30s So it is possible, however thay also produced some fake resos, ~ just a coverplate and a painted circle on the top. Funky eh! Maybe thats what you got. Oh ya, in the 30 -40s for some reason a lot of Stellas were converted to resos by DIY and luthiers as well. Was the guitar of choice for converting. blessings the Padma |

Yeah, I've never seen a stella resonator. I do have an old stella mando with the nice reso coverplate with the silver paint under it. I believe these aren't frakensteins, the reso look was hot there at one point in time and so quite a few of these faux resos were turned out by a number of companies, just for looks not sound. Looking good has always been important! Joe |

I had never seen this before and kinda stood there shaking my head and wondering what were they thinking ? The bridge was so short the strings were maybe .0010 above the reso plate and if strummed would buzz like mad . I cant ever see this having been a good idea ! |
