Check this out. 6 mpeg videos showing Kevin Ryan making a neck. Fairly interesting stuff. and no need to sharpen your chisels. Ryan neck carving |

I just saw that today. Very inspiring. He makes that look so easy, plus, I like how he attacks the volute and backstrapping. Lots of new ideas to try. |

I was watching these videos and after I watched the fourth one I decided that it would be a nice thing to post on the forum so I did and when I went back to watch the rest they would not work. Maybe the server the are on blew up or something. I'll check again tomorrow. |

Whatever media is cheapest, and it would be nice to see whomever playing Tim's guitar. I know, that's stretching it. Lemme send you expenses on it. Thanks, Bruce |

Maybe he pulled an Olson, and purchased a 100K$ Fadal? |

Nope... An air sander/grinder ... but fishing through the site these are posted on (it is mentioned on the fret... I forget the URL, but it is definitely worth checking out) I think I see some big CNC machine in the still shots. I will burn some media tomorrow and get it out to you guys. One thing if you are trying to watch these online though.... Before I watched them I downloaded them to my hard drive. To do this hover over the link and RIGHT click then select "Save Target As" and that will let you save it to your hard drive first. That will help if you think the server might be slow. |

Bruce, In these videos he is using an air sander/grinder to shape the neck and he does it fairly quickly using this tool. I recently saw a group of pictures someone posted on the fret that did show the recent installation of a Fadal station so I would imagine one of the things he'll be doing with that is shaping necks. |
