Thanks for looking, please forgive my terrible photos I am limited by my 2.1 mega ancient camera.

This guitar is Honduras mahogany with an adirondack top, brazilian finger board and bridge.

I started this guitar a long time ago, and at one point didnt even really want to finish it, Im glad i did now.




I will be bringing a few of my guitars down to the A.S.I.A. symposium. It will be the first time that I will be showing my guitars, and I am looking forward to meeting those of you who will be there very much.

I had the opportunity to see this guitar while it was in the spray booth. It's a very nice guitar.
Matt, these pics sure hide the Quazimoto asymmetrical bump in the treble side upper bout. Good photography!

Well now that the cat is out of the bag, about half way through the build on this guitar i noticed a slight discrepency in my home made body mold. So this one kinda hung around while I worked on some others.

I have since replaced my mold with one of John Halls D-28 molds, which I feel much more confident using.

After a few months of hemming and hawing, I decided to finish it up and keep it as a player for myself. I have not been able to keep any of my guitars and I literally have gone months with out my own guitar to play.

Other than that, the guitar really is light,loud and is awesome in terms of tone and playabililty. I wish i could pass it around to you all.

To answer Dave`s question:
It is just natural color, I do use oil based filler which darkens and inhances the color some.

I like to apply filler and wipe it back with a rag just dabbed sligtly in naptha. This seems to enhance the hondurans color nicely.

I think of it as inking the wood.

Matt, great job. I know how you feel about not having a guitar. I've been playing a Seagull for about 6 months because I had an offer I couldn't refuse on the guitar I built for myself. I've got 5 in the booth now and I have one designated for ME.

Personally, I kinda like playin different guitars every couple months. I always have the old beater around. I think it was about number 3 or 4. I still have it because as it was hanging and curing in the doorway of my old garage/shop, my daughter bounced a basketball into it. It got a nice dimple in the back near the edge of the lower bout. I never could get it quite straightened out so it was a keeper.

Matt, mind if I ask what brand/color of grain filler you used?

I have a African Mahogany dred that I have had hanging up fo almost a year now because I just am not happy with the color. If I could get it the color of yours I might go ahead and put a neck on it and finish it up.

sure, i use good ole Constantines black paste filler.

Paul, glad to hear that your planning to keep one. I am feeling much better now that I have one to mess around with after work.

Stan: I am about 2 1/2 hours south of portland On Cape Cod C`mon down I`ll take you out in my new boat.
I know the symposium is in Maryland, but I hav`nt figured out exactly where yet.

Well now Bob, I always thought that state below New York was known as Pennsylvania, I guess this map says it is United States of America. Who knew?

As to my busting up Matt over the asymmetry of this guitar, you would never notice it unless he points it out to you. I sure didn't. He's just being a tad anal about it, which is why I busted him up about it...kind of an inside joke between us. That said, I can see why he would keep it for himself. It's a sweet guitar.

The map shows cape cod well, I live right over the "d" in Providence. I think I`ll need a bit more detail to find the symposium.

Do a mapquest get directions. Mine wouldn't do you any good unless. I can send a link to the college where the symposium is being help and the have local directions.
