Ok...Here's some pics of my first attempt at a guitar. It is from a kit, so the materials aren't of the best quality (like the top for example), but I did modify it quite a bit .

Its a link because the photos were too large to upload.

Very nice Joseph!
What led you to build this shape?
Are you happy with it?

I'm not sure why I was drawn to the shape. It was something different that I found. I also thought it would make for an easier first build. When I got the kit though, I wasn't happy with some of thr parts, so I replaced them and I updated other areas of it. The original headstock shape was the squared off Martin style...I didn;t think it fit the style of the guitar, so I carved it out. The kit came with some cheap crappy tuners, so I upgraded those too. Same thing with the saddle and nut that came with it. I added the binding, purfling, heelcap and headstock veneer myself.

I was suprised by the sound. It is very balanced and full.

It has taken some time to get ovewr the flaws it construction. But overall, I'm hapy with my first attempt.

Congrads Joseph,
I was impressed with your choice because I have been toying with the idea of building a hybrid Guitar/Lute-ish instrument for a while. Did you design that rosette yourself?

Stupid yahoo...too many people looking at once

Wade, I wish I could say I designed the rosette. Alas, it was precut ny a laser. I'm planning on buying some cheap soundboard material to practice making my own.

John I agree! I was scared half to death when I built my first, that last thing I would have done was to take a sharp left when I should have gone right!

Joe, your to be commended! that took a lot of gumption!

Way Cool!!

I love the deviation from the "plan". That took some intestinal fortitude. Congratz on completing #1 and welcome to the addiction

I'll join the crowd here and say "way to go". I like the uniqueness of it. How does it sound?
