Just an observation ...

This is not a complaint per se, as more of an observation.

When you are at the Topic level of the main discussion forum, and you "hover" over a subject, an information box appears with some of the text of the discussion showing. It does not seem to match up with the proper author.

I find these info boxes a nice way to look into a discussion especially when the subject line is vague, such as "Forum issue." Do I want to go in further and with dial-up this is a nice way of not wasting time going to a discussion that I was not really interested in.

Since I use these more for "what" is said, than "who" said it, it doesn't much matter (to me) but if you guys are doing some repairs of updates, you might want this on the list of things to do.

FYI

John o
(not complaining)

I noticed the same thing. Sometimes you need to go one below what you're trying to read. Subtopics generally don't give a popup box.

I right click and open a new window. When I return to main topic page. the text often doesn't change to indicate that threads have been read. I think that's the nature of windows though. No big deal, just a minor issue. I wonder how the Mozilla browsers make out on this one. I am seriously considering downloading it. Less trouble with malware, soyware, and the like.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I have noticed the same thing, too.

If you are opening the topics in a new window, the original main forum window won't show the links as read unless you refresh. If you open the thread in the same window, going back to the main discussion forum page should refresh on its own.

I use Mozilla Firefox and love it.Keep IE around for those times when a web page won't accept anything else. Opening the threads in a new tab instead of a new window is a nice but subtle feature. When you go back to the main disscusion page tab, you still have refresh though.

Thanks John --

For dial up you may whan to try the active topis button above- this will reduce the loading time and only bring up the most current topics.
