Well it New Year's day was an instersting one on the job site. We are installing a PA system in a church at about 38'. Monday we pulled the snakes and got most of the equipment on site and the old hardware removed. All that was left to remove was the old speaker cabinet, which was enormous and a cause of great concern. We got the cabinet down without a hitch and began preparing to hoist the new speakers. The hoist decided to jam up and jerk and the bolts ripped right out of the cieling. I was on a guide rope and had a perfect view of 1500 dollars worth of speakers and a hoist fall about 30' and bounce another 20'. I looked around and everyone in the crew and made sure everyone was okay, they were. The church's plaform has a hole in it and some of the woodwork was damaged, but nothing we can't fix or replace. We got the speakers back to the store. The cabinets were torn up, but the speakers themselves were fine. Mainly though, the guys are all fine so all in all, it was both a horrid day and a great one. Today they are going to finish soldering some ends and get everything working. We will hang the remaining speakers and get more ordered. I'm not sure what else to do. I can't say I've ever had three speaker cabinets fall from the sky before.
