I've been wanting an edge sander for a while now and finally after hitting another snag with my little delta 4x36 I decided it was time to take the dive and get this over with.

I was looking at theGrizzly G0512

Well it appears that they are back ordered 4-6 weeks before I can get one, sorry but I have a stack of guitars to build, customers waiting and can't wait that long with Healdsburg looming. So what other edge sanders are others using? I really like the wrap around table on this one, it would be perfect for shaping necks, headstocks and I was going to make a jig to do finger board radius's sitting on the side (since this one doesn't tilt which was fine with me).

So now the hunt is on, I really liked the small diameter of the idler on this one, suggestions as to alternatives??

Thanks

I have one of these. I had to reinforce it to make sure that the belt stayed 90* to the table when the machine was running. No matter how tight I set the lock down it tended to drift when the machine was running.

After the fix it works fine.

Woodworkers Supply sells the Woodtek 6"x89" but it doesn't have the wrap around table. Would not be impossible to make the table however by mounting it off the end of the main table.
My question on these "end tables" is whether the idler drum is machined with a taper (larger in the middle) and, if so, whether this causes problems when "end sanding".
Thanks

Hi Brock,

Can you elaborate? Any pix you can post? I've heard this problem from an otherwise good machine. I went ot Grizzly, and looked at this model. My only cursory look noticed that the (laminated)table was noticably "lumpy" . Other than that....you can't always tell by looking, only when operating do things come to light (vibration, design flaws, tracking, overheating, etc)

Show us those pics!

Yeah, sure, I can take some pics of what I did and post them.

I will try to do that this evening.
