I have a bunch but I only have black in .020 and .125. Let me know what you are looking for and I will see what I can do for you. I order fairly regularly.

The stuff I have is black fibre (and other colours as well). Fish paper is actually not the product typically used in guitar making as it is used more in the electronics industry. My supplier says it is quite a bit more money because of the conductivity issues and is otherwise no better for our use than black fibre. All of the major guitar guys use the same stuff I supply.

Best of the season!

Bob C sells them too.

The other thing you can do is go to an electrical supply company in your area (Crum Electrical supply is in Denver) and ask for vulcanized fish paper. They also should be able to help you out.

I just moved out of Denver this past summer otherwise, I'd be there tomorrow. Thanks for the responses, those leads should help greatly.

Shane,
You mentioned you have other colors. Can I get them in sheets so I can cut my own purflings? If so, what sizes and colors do they come in?

Hey Robbie,

I have Maple, and then fibre in Black, White, Green, Blue and Red in .020 x 6 x 36. They are $7.00 per sheet. I also have a bit of black that is .125 x 8" that I brought in for head plates but I would have to check the length to see what is left.

Thanks

Shane

Black can for sure and I can check on the coloured stuff. Just let me know the widths you are looking for Mario. The lenths can also be up to about 80 inches I think. I have some black here that long now.

Something at least a foot wide would be nice. I hate that all my purfling glue ups end up so narrow that I only get a dozen or less strips from the whole glue up(of 6" wide stock). I also would want thicknesses other than .020". Actually, from .005" and up, in increments of .005" would be nice...

What's your minimum order when you bring this stuff in? It'd be nice to be able to buy it on an as-needed basis... If I don't find a direct source for myself, maybe we can work something out. Methinks we need to continue this conversation off-forum after the new year(but i do think others may be interested in wider stock)...

I agree Mario, We can talk after the new year off line. But for your info and others, I don't mind bringing in items and I will deal with the minimums and just add the others to stock. I know that I can get black in widths up to 48 inches or so but I will need to check on the coloured stuff. So, when you are ready you can call or e-mail (I think you have both!) and let me know the sizes and the colours you want and I will search them out.

J brown,

I recently inquired on this same subject and found an industrial vendor where I could buy very very large sheets for relatively cheap prices.  Right now, I cannot remember their name, but I have them on my contact list at work, and will send it your way when I return from vacation.
