Subscription to Fine Woodworking (after a 20 yr. hiatus), this proper BRW handle for my old scraper plane to replace the cherry one I cobbled up, from my antique tool dealer brother. Best of all though, was a certificate for hugs and kisses from my children. It was a good day. |

Bach - Solo Violin Sonatas & Partitas, by Eugene Drucker. I can't tell you how thrilled I was with this one. I had read about Drucker this summer when I read The Violin Maker. He's a founding member of The Emerson String Quartet and ex-concertmaster at Juilliard. The recording is beautiful. It's wonderful to listen and think, So that's what a Strad sounds like! My sister gave me the Planet Earth series on DVD. A PERFECT gift. You should see some of the amazing footage they have. I hadn't seen the series before, but now I understand all the talk surrounding it. Guitar: An American Life. This book was mentioned in a different thread. I've read three chapters so far and really enjoy it. The book is similar to The Violin Maker, as it's an expose that follows Rick Davis as he builds the author's guitar. I love it, and the humor is really good. & nbsp; |

I was able to make my wife smile and giggle for a day and be at peace with the world. Her smiles and giggles were my gifts. I bought a few new tools for the business, using the cheerful season as a guise to make the expense seem worth it all. |

I got a lump of coal (bubble gum) I did buy a Williams Binding Machine for myself though. Best of all, I gave the gift of music to my sister and sister in law. They each got a beautiful non-handcrafted guitar, accessories, and lessons. |

- Chuck and 2 sets of turning chisels (small for pens and knobs, regular/large for bigger projects) for the cheap lathe I got a while back. - 2 of those vacuum clamps from Vac-U-Clamp (tilting 360 degree rotational variety ...and ordered, to pick up when I visit NYC: 1 Triton Router (for table mounting), 1 Bosch Router (2HP, both bases...needed a plunge for electric work), Festool ETS 125 and a Lie-Nielsen adjustable mouth low-angle block plane. And possibly some Blue Spruce chisels, although I'm still doing some math (ie, can I afford them) on those. Oh, and Amazon had some nice prices going, so my collections of The Shield, The Wire, The West Wing and Scrubs DVDs are finally complete. |

Dewalt 18 volt drill and circular saw combo kit. This replaces my old 12 volt Milwaukee cordless drill that I burned the switch up on about 6 months ago. I've been using a 30 year old black and decker "corded" drill since then. Man, it's good to be cordless again! Oh yeah, I got some clothes too... Cheers, |
