I joined this forum after finishing up my first build - a kit guitar from US Guitar Kits:

It has sycamore back and sides, western red cedar top, rosewood bridge and fretboard, the peghead is veneered with birdseye maple, mahogany neck...It's an OM sized guitar...

It sounded really good.  My buddy shown below has been playing for about 30 years - played with James Taylor and others.  He brought over his Guild D-40, which I am holding, and the two instruments sounded great together...

So the miracle part is this...My wife and I almost lost her daughter to addiction, starting when she was 15.  She battled through it, and has been recovered for the last 18 months.  During her battle, she traded away her own guitar.  The reason I got into this was to build her a new one and restore her musical past.  Mission accomplished! Our miracle is that she is alive today, and she has a new guitar!

...and she's a bit of a ham...

Thank you for looking and sharing our miracle.  And also, thanks to all the folks that contribute on this forum and help newbies like myself.  I am chomping at the bit to start on "Number 2"...

That IS great. Congratulations to both of you, but especially to her! No disrespect intended to your guitar building (your instrument looks fantastic)...but she's done something amazing, and at such a young age.

What's better than that ? ! ? !

Great story, and thanks for sharing it with us.
I've known so many people who have battled addictions in one form or another, and I'm glad to see she's getting the better of it.

I too almost lost my daughter when she was only two years old. Long story but it was totally due to doctor error. I thank God for her everyday and can't imagine what it would be like to be without her. The whole incident actually turned out to be a blessing because it brought us all closer to God. i sincerely hope that that is what God has planned for you as well. We will continue to pray for you and your daughter. HAVE A MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Dave

Mitch,

That was an uplifting story.

I'm sure she knows she must remain ever vigilant. I hope she can always recall the moments captured in those priceless photos - she is absolutely radiant.

Dennis
