Jared I am sure John will be along and be able to help you. I wanted to say that I have one of the William's binding jigs and it's the best binding jig available IMHO. Finally I am able to cut perfect, stress free binding and purfing channels with excellent results every time. I think that this jig is a "must have" for any serious builder. Highly recommended! |

Is there a specific model laminate trimmer that will or more importantly, will NOT work with the machine? |

Any trimmer will work. When you get it, there is not a cradle for a trimmer, but you can attach the trimmer base to it directly on a metal face plate that comes with it. You can also make a cradle and do a add on so can make the trimmer rotate if you want. I may do that someday, but now, just attached PC 310(or number like that) directly to plate. I was going to make one, but until yesterday, I didn't have a shop. Now set up for most part and ready to go. Note, if you get a trimmer with a base you can adjust the depth and width of cuts, you can use a downcut bit. Which I may go to rather than bearing sets. Also may make a second one and have one dedicated to binding and one to purf. But that is way down the road. |

Just want to add, you can't go wrong with John!!!!!!!!!!! He gives above and beyond on his products. He will spend the time on phone with you or whatever it takes to make sur you can use stuff and do so with ease. I have been dealing with him since 2002 and just great guy and vendor, on what he sells. |

Well, that works for me. I expect to close the box on my first either this month or early next month so I'll be needing a binding solution and I might as well start with a good jig. |

I'll agree that it's impossible to go wrong ordering something from John Hall...but, I think Don Williams has (or had) instructions for building the jig up on his website. It is www.dewguitars.com To be honest,I just looked to see if I could find the link on his site for the jig, but I couldn't. I know Don is revamping things on his site, so perhaps he'll weigh in here with where those instructions were located. Also, there have been some pretty cool modifications to this particular jigs from members here on the OLF. The one I remember most allows the user to use a spiral bit vs. the router/bearing bit configuration. You might search the archives for those versions, too. |
