Hi there everyone!

My name is Terry Buddell and I live in Gladstone Australia ( at present) on my yacht in which I am travelling around Aussie. I have recently( after taking the plunge after 25 years of indecision) built a Weissenborn slide out of Australian Maple..so amazed was I actually accomplished this whilst living on board, without any fancy tools, that I also wrote an instructional book, built a website, drew up a plan for the guitar and am a dedicated convert to this wonderful type of guitar playing!

I wanted to say Hallo to all members and look forward to finding out much more about guitar building from these pages...anyone else built a Weissy and what did you construct it from?? Also, is there any major differences in tone and volume with any other timbers other than Koa or Blackwood??? I am looking to build another soon?

Dare I say it but has anyone ever played a carbon fibre resonator or weissy?

Anyone wishing to visit my site to see or hear my baby it is www.builaweissenborn.com

Cheers y'all! Kind regards

Welcome Glad to have you with us. I don't build Weissies but there are several here that do.

Terry M8 welcome to the OLF!

Needless to say a lack of humidity will not be a problem in your shop....

There are some weissenborn builders here and I am sure that they will chime in here to welcome you.

Whoa...what a coincidence, I'm in my trailer here in redneck North Carolina. I'm guessing it's similar in size to your yacht, and periodically I have to move it to another park so it too is mobile. Small world.

LOVE the site.

Bill

He does not!  He may be a Redneck, but he does not live in a trailer.

Welcome to the OLF, Terry.  I like your site.  I like your boat, too.  What is she?  Great job building on board.  There is one question?  Did you control humidity at all, or work when conditions allowed, or just build, and forget about all that stuff?

Gday Terry,

Good to have another Aussie with us here at the OLF. I checked your site out, good work, I notice that you have a link there to Jeff Lang's web site, most fitting cause I reckon he is easily one of the best weissy players on the planet, just love his rendition of "1952 Vincent" among others.

Anyhow, look forward to more from you.

Cheers

Kim

[/QUOTE]

I thought everyone measured road distances that way

G'day Terry and welcome aboard.

Are you heading north or south? If you are sailing past Geelong in the future you'll have to drop in.

BTW do you measure nautical miles with stubbies?

Bob
