Jeez, I just run it through the table saw with the fingerboard surface against the fence...no jig required. |

Nice jig Terry. I've fought this before and always ended up on the sander, though usually hand-held. Now Rick, that just sounds too easy. Heck, you can even angle the blade too, to get that Martinesque back slope. Hmmmmm. I sure need to move my table saw down to my shop. It's been in the garage since I started. I'm wondering if O'Connor will put this in the tutorial pages? Thanks guys. |

Table saw, like Rick, but I hold a 1/2" block of wood at the nut end, thereby inducing a little angle(back slope?) into the heel cap. Same angle as the plane of the guitar's back, actually, so everything flows. Takes seconds.... |

Aha, I was thinking sawing vertically. Mario, you are talking sawing horizontally, hence the block. Makes sense. It also makes sense to cut this before final shaping, so any fuzz to the cut or spintering is a non-issue. |
