I received a package from Tim at Australian Tonewoods today and man does this wood look nice. This is Native Olive, very rare and difficult to obtain and native to Tasmania I believe. Bob Connor has been building with Native Olive already and Kim also recommended it to me. The ring is outstanding and it looks very pretty too. Take a peek and many thanks Tim!!!!   |

Hey Hesh, That olive looks great. I got a package from Tim today also, a set of Lace Sheoak. a neck blank, fingerboards, bridges, and bindings. Was your package stamped "Security Screened" in big red letters? I thought it was only dangerous to my bank balance. |

Tim said he was sending me some Olive I believe, I cant wait to see it,,, what a great guy Tim is - Im gonna get me some of that beautiful Tazzie Blackwood from him soon, I bought some Tazzie Tiger Myrtle a while ago and it was top notch! Great set Hesh! Cheers Charlie |

You won't be disappointed Hesh. This stuff rings like Big Ben. A note for anyone using Native Olive. It contains a natural wax which will clog the paper on your thickness sander quicker than any other wood I've used. I use 36 grit to take off the bulk and then take very, very fine passes with 80 grit to get it down to final thickness. Or use a plane or Wagner on it. It doesn't affect glueing though. Bob |

Oh Hesh, I forgot that wood was on my wanted list...that Yew I bought was going to be the last tonewood I was going to buy for a while....thanks for reminding me!!

I saw a discussion about this wood on another woodworking forum a while back, and from what I can gather you have something that is quite rare.....expensive too. I'm really anxious to see how this turns out. I'm particularly interested in the smell of the wood while you work with it. GREAT find!! |

Got me a set coming--stop it Hesh, that makes 3 sets I had to get from Tim now, the Sheoke and the Blackwwod included. I think I also grabbed a set of awsome Walnut from Steve at Colonial after you posted a pic too--hey, I'm noticing a trend! |

Hesh - That is some nice looking WAS fixin! My only issue is the outline drawn on the back set..... A D***dn****t? Can't wait to see the pics of progress. |
