Hey folks, I plan to be a Montreal. The guitar show site has some hotels listed that they say has some discounted rates for us. I really can't tell much about them by their websites. I'll be bringing my family and we are looking to stay somewhere inexpensive but not at the bottom. Maybe a two star with wi-fi, ha.

Some of you have been there - anyone got any recomendations, positive or negative. Sanalkampus

Hi Gearld,
The first show we stayed at the Travel Lodge which was a couple of blocks away from the Hyatt. The rooms were "Euro" in size (read really small) but very clean. Decent free continental breakfast. Hot eggs were extra. Woolson had a sweet which was a tad larger than our room but not be much.

Last year we stayed at the Hilton where the show was held. The rooms were twice the price but much larger and nicer. No free breakfast but we ate at the food court below the hotel. There is a large underground city below the festival which has lots of shopping and resteraunts. Your family will have a GREAT time there!

I think Tim meant to say that we stayed at the HYATT this last year. Just an elevator ride to the show. Expensive but pretty darn convenient.
Gerald, check with Bruce Sexhauer as to where he stays. He's got a lead on this nice B&B type place just a couple of blocks from the show.

Yep, Hyatt in 2007, sorry bout that. We will probably stay there (Hyatt) again next year too. It is just too convenient.

Montreal is a great city.  I love it there.  I'd find any excuse to go back.  Those of you going, do plan on staying after the show to experience the city.  You'll be glad that you did.

If you're bringing the family, check out the Biodome.  Its the old Olympic velodrome, fully converted.  Across the street is a most amazing botanical garden, for those who love gardening.  Even if you don't its such a nice retreat.  The Chinese Garden is astounding.  Your kids will love the Insectorium.

I stayed at the Downtown Holiday Inn. Not the cheapest, but not bad. The room was small, but they had the free Continental breakfast. It's across the street and a half block down from the show venue. They had run out of parking by the time we got there, and I spent $10/night to put the car in a nearby garage. Not too bad, all told. It's also right on the edge of Chinatown, and we ate there every night, which cut the costs.

Hey guys,

This is Jacques-Andre, your friendly Montreal Guitar Show organizer!

Here is the link to look at the hotels where we have special deals:
http://montrealguitarshow.com/forfaits_tourisme_hotels_en.as px

Last year I have had good comments for the

Trylon appartements – 3*

It is an appartment hotel near the site with secured high speed wireless Internet access, air conditioning, cable
TV, telephone and radio, refrigerator, conventional and microwave
ovens, indoor swimming pool, sauna and exercise room. And the have a one bedroom apartment with two beds $80 CA plus taxes per
night, per room. Which is not bad at all! Very good also for a family.

Cheers and looking forward to see your great work in Montreal.

We stayed at the one on Du Parc ave, about a eight-ten minute walk .... 104 Cdn per night .. thats like getting a pretty decent dinner for two for free compared to the Hyatt ... walk a little, its good for ya !!!! And the breakfast downstairs was quite awesome. Thats where we will be again.

I stayed at the Trylon place and was quite happy with it. Clean, decent, good sized room, kitchenette, no complaints. If you plan to park a car there, make sure to make a reservation with them for your car as well.

It's a few blocks from the show.

Bruce stays at Hotel XIX Siecle. They will give you a lower rate than they have published if you say you are in the Show.
