the post containing a link to the "bridge mass reduction" / "bridge butchering" done on an old ramirez guitar led me to find this link: Wulfin Lieske plays Tarrega's Lagrima w/6 different guitars(torres,esteso,hernandez,fleta...) so whats the verdict? to my ears/taste, the torres, fleta and santos hernandez all poses a certain quality, certain roundness/warmth that i personally love... I think it shows why Torres is still the builder we all aspire to be! Oh yes I agree Santos Hernadez and Fleta are the next, but still the Torres is best. But wait a while for my next build and I'll play the Lagrima so you can compare it ![]() ![]() Colin |

Heard nothing but good things about Mr.Aram's guitars. never played/heard one myself. how's you build coming along? show us something, will you? Colin, while this might be out of topic, i was just asked by a friend in argentina, who is going to York as a part of an exchange student program, if i know of a place in England(preferably York) where she could purchase a deep throat caliper. any suggestions? thanks, Udi. |

I've been playing this video quite a few times, so much so that my family, who already think that I've got CGBD (compulsive guitar builder disorder), think that I've really lost it now. I wish that there were more projects like this one. We keep hearing about the "differences" between different guitars, but its so had to really know what it is. What a great way to put the focus on the instrument/maker and not the player. I really wish that the subtleties could be better conveyed by my computer's speakers! The Fleta was the only one that I could hear as obviously different. (pitiful laptop speakers) |

The Torres does sound best to my ears too. It might not have quite the power the others have, but the pure, rich sounds, especially in the mid range are exceptional, almost like a bell. Fleta certainly has the power, but none of them have the sweetness of the Torres. That was a great comparison. Craig S. |
