last week i won two tickets to see james taylor. so monday night my wife and i trucked down to bakersfield to check out the show. i have always been a huge fan of james and it was pretty much a dream come true. and the tickets were free on top of that, so not too bad. james taylor has been near the top of my list of shows to see for some time now, so im glad to have experienced his music live. i would definitely see that show again. my wife and i were chatting and started talking about other "must see" musicians. i generally dont pay money to see artists live unless im really in to them. so the bands ive seen that i would include on this "must see" list include: james taylor, nickel creek, U2, dave matthews band.... then there are bands that i might include that i have not seen. ive always wanted to see the gypsy kings, alison krauss, harry connick jr... i know theres more. anyways, who have you seen that is on this list and who have you not seen that must be seen? |

Congratulatons Heath! That's a great score! I'm like you, I really have to like somebody before I'll go see them. A friend of mine got free tickets to see Genesis/Colins not Gabriel unfortunately but after seeing the concert I felt a lot better about what they were doing. I guess that's why people tour. I've never really seen Van Halen. Tommy Emmanuel doesn't get too close to southern california much but I'd probably go see him. There's also Los Tigres Del Norte They're pretty good! Been around since the 80's. Viva Norteno!! |

I saw Nickel Creek a couple of weeks ago. THE (not one of, but THE) best show I've ever been to. At the end I could have listened to two more sets. Just amazing. Though they might be done, I'm not sure. The album is called Farewell for Now which implies that they might be taking a break. I saw Doc Watson this summer. As shows go, not one of the more exciting (he just sits and plays) but watching his talent is pretty amazing. |

My wife and I are traveling to Nashville to see Nickel Creek on the last night of their Farewell (For Now) Tour at the Ryman Auditorium. I've seen them 7 times I think, but I've really wanted to see a show at the Ryman, and being their last show before they go on indefinite hiatus, it should be really special. Other top favorite live shows have been Wilco (3x) (and Jeff Tweedy solo 1x), Sufjan Stevens (2x), and Gillian Welch (2x). |

guys, im right on board with nickel creek. ive seen them five times, i believe, and they are just amazing live. other-worldly. the last handful of years they have come to a small venue about twenty minutes from my place. they always hang out and chat with everyone after the show, which is so cool. the time before last that i saw them, they waited around afterwards a bit for a lot of people to leave. then they brought their instuments back out and played on the street corner for like an hour and a half for about thirty people. that was an incredible experience. i was so close, shawn watkins kept bumping in to me while he was playing. wow. (i wasnt being annoying, they asked us to squeeze in real tight like.) my wife and i just kept looking at each other like, "can you believe this!" hesh, no rules here. my first list was bands ive seen. my second list is bands i would like to see. you make your list as long as you want . i almost included wilco on bands i would like to see, after their amazing performance on ACL. other great live bands i have not seen: the flaming lips, raconteurs, id like to see sufjan stevens as well. |

[/QUOTE]Now if it was Sarah who kept bumping into you, THAT would be a good story. She's Cuuuuuuuuuuute. We're going to see Feist tomorrow night. She got psudo famous from her Ipod "1-2-3-4" song. Anyway, my oldest daughter loves her so we thought it would be a good first concert. (much better than Hannah Montana or Hillary Duff) |

Lungfish is the best show I have ever seen. Each time has been great. I would love to see Neko Case live too. And the Lightning Bolt at the outdoor iron pour at MassArt was awesome too. And Hella with no PA so you could actually hear all the drums... why am I making acoustic guitars? I like it loud. |

Favourite bands I've seen live, (remember I was brought up in London in the 60s and 70s) * YES, seen many times, (Wakeman, Anderson, Howe, best band and best rock sound ever, no arguments!) * Pink Floyd, (Syd Barratt era at the UFO club held about 50 people!) * Pink Floyd, Gilmore era, 1994 Earls Court. * Genesis, Peter Gabriel era. * Jimmy Hendrix Experience, again London 60s small clubs. * John Mayall Bluesbreakers, again seen dozens of times with various guitarists, Clapton, Montoya, Beck and the best of the lot Peter Green, the finest white blues guitarist of all time and again at the top of his form. * The Venere Quartet, lute consort. Bands I'd like to see, The Ukelele Orchestra of Great Britain. Going 19th January, Canterbury. Colin |
