Here are the sound clips of my recently completed Honduran Rosewood guitar, I don't believe the quality of these clips are quite as good as the ones of the Blackwood guitar I posted a few months ago, but it gives you an idea of the tonal differences between the guitars....and as I mentioned earlier these two guitars were as about as equal as I possibly could imagine building short of the different B&S woods....There were some slight bracing changes but the overall patterns, sizes, and shapes were very similar. those are both great sounding guitars greg. pickin's not half bad either  . ill leave the comparisons up to the more discerning ear.

Greg, Thanks for posting sounclips - although they can never replace the sound of an instrument live they do give I flavour. The guitar sounds great. The signature sound between the two guitars is not all that different to my ears, but it's hard really flicking back and forth between recordings. The Blackwood one sounds fuller as if it's further down its opening up curve but that could just be different recording set ups. Well done on both

Hi Dave, Thanks....yeah, the recordings didn't turn out perfect on the HRW, so I would say that the perception of the HRW needing to open up compared to the blackwood guitar might easily be heard, though it doesn't sound exactly that way in person. I'd agree. That's a great sounding guitar. I particularly like the 3rd cut, which imho shows of the full range of the instrument. I'd be interested in your choice of tuning in each of the sound bits. Regards, |

Greg, They both sound great to me! But then, it's hard to really tell over the internet. Best I can tell, the blackwood sounds a little brighter, where the HRW seems to have a fuller or deeper tone about it. BTW, I really enjoyed Track-4-69 (HRW) I'm a big blues fan. Robert |

Thanks Michael, glad you enjoyed the clips, #3 is my favorite....you know I thought this would have been an interesting and fun listen, I'm surprised there wern't more comments on the differences/similarities....Oh well! Nice job Greg - I liked them both. The Blackwood sound like Koa, very nice Koa to me and Honduran Rosewood on the second guitar sounds, well, like Honduran Rosewood - BRW to me. Great job Greg! |

Hi Joe, No tabs available, sorry.....I've listed the tunes and tuning for each below. Let's see here....I think this is correct Blackwood Guitar tracks Whiskey Before Breakfast - Drop D Blues Tune - Standard Tuning Wild Mt. Tyme - open D Rythym Guitar - Standard HRW Guitar- Same tunes played a little differently, but you can hear the similarities to figure out the song/tuning. Greg |
