My wife and I goto Franklin, Tennessee quite a few times a year. Each time we go I try to make it to Artisan Guitars to drool over guitars. Artisan currently has a Woolson Rockabilly and a few McKnight acoustics. I got to see a MiniMac Birdseye Mahogany guitar with Tim's double back construction. Strange not seeing braces when you look through the sound hole. Pictures do not, DO NOT, do this guitar justice. The carving of the sound port is amazing. All of the guitars Tim has at Artisan are a sight to behold. McKnight Guitars Paul's Rockabilly model archtop is just... well, words can't describe. The maple in the back & neck are a work of art. Artisan has the "red" one. Oh my. I felt honored just to touch the guitar. Woolson's Soundcraft. I didn't play any of the guitars, because, well, I couldn't have done them justice, and I was scared I might scratch them . If any of you get a chance to stop by Artisan, I highly recommend it. They carry a lot of hand made guitars, from multiple luthiers. |

Good post Nay and it sounds like you had a great time. Both Tim and Paul are two of the finest builders that I know and very cool guys too. Paul's archtop, in black, is a guitar that I want to own someday. I got to play one at Lance's house. |
