OK, I know, I know, this question is out of left field..Ah the ROCKIES..(sorry, just dreaming) BUT are there certain neck contours that are favorites among certain players ie, Classical, Fingerpickers, flatpickers, etc. assuming average hand size for men? for Women?

I find from talking to players that this is a very personal choice that has almost nothing to do with playing style.



Except that shredders always want the thinnest neck they can get away with. 

I have never cared for strongly triangular necks.

Almost every player I have built for has requested what is commonly described as The Modified "D" This is basically Martin's standard "D" flattened or thinned as it were at the apex.

I know the question was nebulous to say the least, but I received more info. for thought than I counted on.

I always had a leaning toward Gibson and Martin necks that are (I guess?) in the modified D shape. That is until a year ago or so when I played a friend's guitar with a modified V shape. I never liked that in the past, but his was extremely comfortable to play. Of course it was a really[/i ]expensive guitar, but still, very nice to play. I plan on using the same basic shape for a personal guitar at some point.

I like slightly asymmterical C shapes (rounded shoulders, smooth transition from fingerboard into neck shaft), not too skinny. Profile pics on the warmoth site will explain what I mean.
