Preparing to build 000 12 fret for younger daughter (21). She is 5'6" and 'average sized hands. She wants a 'combo', as she phrased it. or fingerpicking and strumming. What should nut size be for her guitar (Your best guess, of course-not much info furnished-sorry) |

1 11/16" or less... simply because every 1 3/4" nut guitar I ever put in the hands of women (n=3) was declared to be too large. Then again, I may need more exposure to women players or hang around with larger women. In reality, why not take her to a weel-stocked guitar store and have her play a few...you'll know when she's picked the right size. |
....or hang around with larger women.
Sorry, I had to laugh at this one.... I think most of us like the more narrow nut width, 42mm and upwards. I'm 5ft 1 1/2, and feel more comfortable with 42mm-44mm. My hands are quite tiny. |
