Hi,
in all my searches i have yet to find a local "martin" dealer who has a slotted head guitar.

so,i come to you good people for help.
i'd be interested in knowing:
1. the diamond volute dimensions(assuming its just a single dimension triangle...)
2. width of the slots.
3. is there a difference in shape/size between a solid head and a slotted head?

thanks in advance,
Udi.

Actually it is not Triangular but rather Diamond shape.(as in the playing card shape) I believe it is 2" x 1" x ruff cut height of 3/4"

thanks,
i'm actually using the good ol' V-joint.
i assume C.F Martin 1 used it and thats where the triangular/diamond volute originated from...
i'm quite comfortable with it on classical guitars, but the slimmer width at the nut of a steel string guitar calls for a slightly different geometry of the volute so that it wont intersect the slots...
so, i just wanted to know how Martin is doing it.
just have ball-park measurements, ill then adjust/ work the aesthtics myself.

again, thanks.

Todd,
your obvious knowledge and underdtanding of woodworking has always impressed me.
how would you go about staining a H.Mahogany neck so that it ends up like in the pic you just posted?
