I had a great night in the shop tonight and finished the back of the Mahogany/Lutz SJ that I am currently building.

After seeing Lance's super neat work this week he makes it just that much harder to compete and I go through more sand paper trying....

So I put the tunes on, cranked it up, and went at it and here is what resulted.

The intersection of the ladder brace and the back reinforcing strip is really a work of art.  I see no gaps.  Great work!

Thanks guys!

Steve the top rings very well but I have not checked it out with my Strobosoft yet to see what note the fundamental is.  And right you are buddy the Festool helps keep it all very clean.

I made a discovery for me tonight that I am sure many of you already know but I didn't.  If you wrap the sand paper around a slightly flexible foam block sanding between the braces is a breeze and the flex in the foam follows the dome of the top/back very well.

Brad/David/Larry Lance returned my post count out of the kindness of his heart and he even offered to do so.  That really made me feel better and I am very grateful.  I suggested to Lance that I would like my post count back after he offered but I also suggested that instead of making me once again a BRW he should make me a "pallet wood" and that would remind me going forward to be good when fights erupt on the OLF.  I was serious about the pallet wood designation but Lance is to nice a guy to do that to me - so far....

Peter clean is all I know... and it's an affliction if anything.  I go to peoples homes and straighten their pictures on the walls etc.  Some of my friends call me Felix Ungar too......

Larry it's HHG and it cleans up very nicely if you catch it about 5-8 minutes after clamping.  And yes indeed Serge holds the unbroken record for the number of posts in the shortest time period AND for being one of the nicest guys who was ever on the OLF.  He is doing fine too and still building and his guitars are getting very nice these days.

Ken I know this is going to sound sick but I vacuum my sand paper.......  Seriously.  And so far I have had to dig a finger plane out of the Festool bag three times now.......

BTW, that has got to be the best version of “Stormy Monday” ever IMHO. Still, one of my all

Yeah, I'm with Robert Dobbs on this one...next tutorial is going to have to be brace carving for newbies.
