Terry, I believe you would still be at about 146lbs of string tension. I am not going to say you have a catastrophic issue here but I would strongly recommend making a new bridge that would completely overlap the X-brace + 1/4" min. |

I don't think I would chance it Terry. It's only a 16th so it might be just fine but I would make a new longer bridge.I like things as precise as possible. |

Terry...I built 2 from the same plans over 3 years ago. I followed the dimensions exactly except for lightening up the bracing significantly, so the issue remains for me. So far after 3 years there are no problems. I made this bridge "mistake" when I "didn't know any better" and I'm not too sure I would change anything next time around. I included Mario's bridge plate tone enhancer which would have accounted for a bit more stiffness in that area. BTW...I built from Sitka/Cherry and Redwood/Walnut. The Sitka/Cherry is by far a better performer and has more tone and volume than I ever anticipated...even though "conventional wisdom" warned me not to go with Sitka...go figure. I really like this size and plan to make more. What combo are you going with? |

Terry, It sounds like you haven't glued the bridge on yet? Make a bridge that overlaps the X. These guitars need the 24.9 scale at least. |

[/QUOTE] Thanks Lance...I'm flattered that you remembered, but I'd rather have it remembered for it's sound. OTOH...I just returned from Austin where the Cherry/Sitka model resides with my brother. I remain proud to have made that one! The cherry gets redder and the tone gets richer. |
