Direct and to the point. I like it! But does any one know why we use cows and not pigs to make the glue? |

HG is cattle Hide glue can be any animal, and specifcally, the high clarity glue that many of us use is pork... |

Tim I'm certainly no expert or even close to it, but I'll send you to one who is. Frank Ford uses gelatin in a pinch |
But is it kosher? Me thinks not...
Oy vey! Here we go...I can just see the unending string of livestock puns littering the range. Think I'll just hoof it out of here ahead of the stampede. |

I think it calls for an experiment. I would not try it on a guitar you plan to sell if I was you but maybe and old junker you got laying around. I hear orange jello is the best for gluing on braces. |

You guys are killing me. :o) If it's good enough for Mr. Ford (@350gm strength) It may do just fine, that is if I can work fast enough. Believe me i appreciate all the comments. Hank, I think you're right, the thread has digressed to 'surf 'n' turf |

I've used 192 g on 4 guitars, bridges included. I had to re glue two of them (bridges), tho this could of been user error.Point is that I had hoped that 192g was strong enough for bridges myself. Clinton |

Anybody have an idea what strength the Behlen's hide glue is? I don't see it on the can. Bill |

All i use is 192.... but. That number is merely a quantitative measurement. It's not the bond strength. It's merely the "burst" quality of the gelled gelatin. |

Todd, your expertise with numbers, and practical applications for data, is staggering. You're like a walking statistical program. If I had that much information in my head (and friends will eagerly verify that I don't), I think it would explode. Thanks, as always. Bill |
