Man, you gotta stop making your customers cry...that's not part of a good business model. Ask Brock.

Fantastic job, as always.

Dang, Andy, you're making them cry now?  I might have cried too if it were mine.  That is beautiful, in every way!

I'm with Waddy...I think I shed a tear or two just looking at that. Incredible.

Say, what's the deal on the saddle? It looks sort of scalloped. It's beautiful, and classy looking, but could you say a few words about what you're doing that for? Thanks.

Bill

that is so sweet,

the ebony is what it is all about,

Is the back 2,3 or 4 piece? The figure is so coolClap

Thanks All
I forgot...After making a nice prototype saddle John Watkins made a bunch of them for me. This is an example of his very fine work!!!!!!!!!

As far as the saddle goes, it is not scalloped. I use a 3/16th wide saddle for more room for intonation and the ability to have a nice gentle curved slope off the back towards the bridge pins.

It is a 2 piece back

beautiful Andy!!
How did you inlay the rosette?
the pearl first in its own slot -or everything all at the same time?

nice art!

Mike
I route a channel wide enough for all the purfling and the shell in the rosette. Then I glue the BWB to the inside and outside of the channel with CA. This leaves a channel for the pearl. The pearl is then placed carefully and a tiny amount of thin CA is used to hold the many pieces in place.

Finally I use colored epoxy (This one is colored with a brass metallic powder) to fill in the space around the pearl inside of the BWB purfling. Once cured and run the top through my thickness sander to level off. You have to be careful not to go to far or the gold MOP will no longer be gold
