I'm going to invest in some good blades for my bandsaw soon, and was looking for some advice... My bandsaw is a record power BS350, 2hp motor, 103" blade length, and can take 1/4" to 3/4" blades. I'm looking to get three high quality blades for it. One general purpose, for roughing out bodies and other every day tasks. A second, resaw blade, for long rips and cutting larger stock (I'm expecting to have to spend the most on this one?). And a third, smaller blade with a small set, for making kerfed linings. So what do you guys think with regards to TPI/widths for each of the blades? And what manufacturers should I be looking out for? I'm UK based, so something available on this side of the pond is essential! Cheers |

It's not, really; I ended up ordering from Iturra Designes (several bladerunners and 4 general purpose 1/4" cheap blades for general cutting work). I'd think a bladerunner would work fine for kerfed linings as well as resawing, although I'm quite seriously considering getting a 1/2" TriMaster for longer lasting resawing. If someone here has a good source for quality, thin-kerf blades, I'd be very happy, but with the dollar so weak, the US is really very tempting... |

i have been getting my carbide tiped blades from here in the uk but my last cost one ?180!!!!!! i will be buying 1" 3-4 tpi vari lennox tri-masters from now on. cheaper and better. but i have an 18" bandsaw i woullent recoment anything larger than a 3/4" for a smaller bandsaw. if anyone knows of european sources let me know. |

i would suggest getting normal carbon steel blades. axminster sell good blades. i get mine over here from harrison saws. They are good and will custom make all your blades but you have to order 5 blades from them (usualy costs about ?100). so i think axminster is the best bet and get a lennox trimaster from the states for the heavy duty stuff. I run 1/4" and 1/2" 6 tpi blades on my 14" Carbatec. They handle most jobs. I get the blades made up by Norwood Saw Works here in Adelaide Australia. |
