UPDATE - See post with photos part way down page 2 for photos of new listings and update as of 6 PM Friday Well, here is my stuff. Sharing my extras. On some items, I may be able to scrounge up a few more of, but please keep all requests in this topic. First the Free Stuff: Ebony Offcut Bundles I resaw a lot of ebony and end up with bunches of offcuts. These are bundles of about 2 pounds that will fit in a Priority Mail Flat Rate Envelope. Most are +/_ 1/4" or so thick with at least one thicker piece in each bundle. Rosette stock, inlay, maybe even a small bridge blank. $5.25 to cover the postage and paypal fees. I have 6 bundles made up. Since these are going by mail, US shipping only. I can do more of these, so available ________________________________________________________ Curly Burr Oak Back and Side Sets This is some of the nicest curly Burr (a species of white) Oak I have seen. These are two sister sets, sanded. Backs 26" long, 11" at the wide end and 6" at the narrow end. Cut from a huge 275 year old oak that had to be taken down to prevent it falling on a house. Burr Oak is a bit less porous than regular White Oak. These sets have both the curl and a nice ray figure. 2 sets available - $65 each Both sold, see update for 2 more available sets A closeup of the figure Note: All backs and tops show a standard dreadnought outline for size reference. The right hand side and back pieces have been wet with naptha to show the color and grain. ________________________________________________________ Fully Quartersawn Cocobolo Back and Side Sets These are identical sister sets, so I am only showing one photo. Very well quartersawn sets, Nicaraguan hurricane blowdown. Backs 8 1/2 by 22, sides 5 by 34, sanded. The color will even out with a little more exposure to light. 2 sets available - $175 each Both sold ________________________________________________________ Mostly Quartersawn Cocobolo Back and Side Sets These are 2 sister sets, well QS in the center 2/3. Backs 8 3/8 by 22 and sides 5 1/8 by 34, sanded. Lots of color, reds, black, and browns, will darken under finish and sides will oxidize to match the back colors. Because the grain varies in the outer part of the backs, I will show both photos. 2 sets available - $145 each Both sold, see update for 2 additional sets ________________________________________________________ Quartersawn Honduran Mahogany Neck Blanks Very well QS and straight grained, 3 1/8 by 15/16 by 31 for scarfed peghead necks. These 6 are consecutive sawn blanks from 12/4 perfectly flatsawn stock to yield QS blanks. 6 avaible - $20 each All sold I just dug around in the basement of the shop and found a dozen off quarter neck blanks. These are the same high quality wood and same size as those above, just sawn closer to the edges of the slabs where the growth rings are starting to curve. These have grain ranging from 45 to 60 degrees off the face. Rip them down the center, flip one half and glue in a center strip, and you are ready to go. I will offer these for $12.50 each, high grade Honduran mahogany. 4 sold, 8 still available ________________________________________________________ Wood Binding Strips - Mix or Match These are 1/4" wide by approx 0.80" thick, and from 31 to 34" long. The following list are the species and numbers of each available, along with a few comments. you can ignore the numbers, I have more of all species African Satinwood - 2 doz., nice flame figure Balsamo, light - 3 doz., med to light brown, med dense Balsamo, dark - 2 doz., darker brown and a bit harder Bloodwod - 2 doz. 1 doz. Sold, 1 doz. left Bocote - 4 doz., nice figure Cocobolo Rosewood - 5 doz. Goncalo Alves, regular - 4 doz., russet w/black stripings, very hard Goncalo Alves, dark - 4 doz., med. to dark brown with black markings Katalox/Wamara - 4 doz., dark purplish brown, very hard Lacewood - 2 doz. Central American Laurel - 4 doz., lighter grayish tan with darker markings, nice ray pattern, med. hard Macacauba - 4 doz., mauve/brown Flamed Red Maple - 4 doz., almost white sapwood, figure shows best under finish Flamed Myrtle - 3 doz. Padauk - 2 doz. Purpleheart - 4 doz. Red Heart - 3 doz., these end up orange/brown Peruvian Walnut - 5 doz., rich, uniform chocolate brown Wenge - 3 doz., nicely QS Zebrawood - 1 doz. All of the above are $28/doz. Ebony - 12 doz.,these will mostly have a few light streaks, helps to tell they are not plastic 2 doz. sold, 10 doz. left Med. Figured Koa - 4 doz., nicely QS These 2 are $36/doz. ________________________________________________________ White Spruce Guitar Soundboards In Northern Minnesota white spruce, Picea glauca, grows as a pure strain, not hybridized with anything else. I cut tops for my guitars from the few choice logs that I can find. This wood is almost identical in tone to Adirondack, but is whiter in color and has less visible grain lines. I have more of this than I can ever build with, so I am offering three tops, one from each of my best logs. These are all of higher quality wood than most of the Adirondack I have seen available. These are all sanded to approx .165 - .170". Very stiff both along and across the grain. Top 02, from log 02 - $45 Sold This top has some hard grain lines which are a cosmetic issue. About 20 grains/inch at the center and averaging about 10 for most of the width. (note: I checked and the dark spot in the left lower bout area is a dirt speck, gone) Top 00, from log 00 - $55 Sold, I have a sister set that I will make available, but it is spoken for Except for a few darker grain lines at the very outer edge, this top is almost pure white. Mostly a uniform 10 to 12 grains/inch, wider at the outer edge. Top 03, from log 03 - $65 sold This almost pure white top is from my best log (the one I use the most). It has a fairly uniform 15 to 20 grains/inch. The spike knot stops dead, well outside the pattern (shows how well QS the top is). For some reason the color looks a bit irregular in the photo - it is not that way. ________________________________________________________ Giraffe Bone Nut Blanks I have more of these than I will use. This is some of the most awesome bone there is, very thick walled and dense. These are rough blanks, a heavy 1/4" thick by about 2 1/4" long. 6 available - $6 each Sold ________________________________________________________ Last Item; One-of-a-kind Master grade Cocobolo Back and Side Set Ok, I know you don't see it graded this way, but this is a very special set that I don't envision myself ever building with. The backs and sides came from the same 22" diameter (all heartwood) old growth cocobolo log that I bought about 5 years ago. Because it was 51" long, I cut it all into back billets (I had similar side wood) except for one slab that was too narrow due to a center crack in the log. Most of this went into harp guitar sides, except for this one set that I had to cut down due to a bad spot at the end. This is an oversize set, backs 9 by 22 and sides 5 3/8 by 36. These are perfect 90 degree quartersawn for the full width and have very fine straight grain. Very rich color and a perfect side and back match. I would not be afraid to say that this is the very best traditional grained cocobolo set you will find. There are a couple of dark stains on the inside face of one of the sides along one edge, but these will be profiled out. I have only one set, period at $225 Sold And here is the log and how this set was cut. So that's my stuff. Thanks for looking. I will take Paypal, money orders, or checks and will charge actual shipping costs. Be advised that our local hardware (the UPS drop point) charges an extra $2.50 fee. And, yes, for those outside of the US, I am happy to ship USPS anywhere. I will be mostly busy during the day, but will update in the evenings. Hey Grant, I would be interested in some more white spruce if you have any more to part with. I don't mind making wings to fill out the lower bout if there are some pretty but narrow tops on the pile. Thanks, Burton |

Check my listing above. I just got home a few minutes ago and updated the status of everything. Ken, I have a sister set to the 00 log white spruce top, so consider it yours. I will also dig out a few more of the white spruce tops. I put up 6 more of the quartersawn Honduran mahogany neck blanks. I will dig out another curly oak set or two, and some more cocobolo sets. Check back later, I will have to take photos and such. Thanks everybody. Grant |

Hey Grant, I only wanted one dozen of the Bloodwood bindings. Is that OK? I noticed that you marked it all sold, but didn't see anyone else asking for it. I think Max B. wanted 2 dozen of the Cocobolo. |

Sorry about that, Waddy. One dozen is what I have written down, just screwed up editing the post, did it in a hurry. Looks like I am about sold out of backs and sides and tops and 9 more days to go. So dug around in the shop tonight. Found some quartersawn curly cocobolo backs that have minor blems or small crack repairs. Otherwise top notch wood. I need to match some sides and do the photos. There will be 3 sets at $125 each normally $185 sets. I will also have another of the fully quartersawn coco sets like in the original listing, again at $175. I also have one more curly oak set identical to set 2 above, again at $65, and I will put up another set with backs from another billet for $55. I also went down to my wood shed and dug out another white spruce top billet that I cut a couple of years ago. This one perfectly white and hand split with zero runout, something very rare in eastern spruce. Here is the back face cleaned up on the planer. The red marks outline the remnants of the split face. And here is the other face. very uniform white color and the growth rings are an even 12/inch across the whole face. And so you can see the growth rings, here is the end of the billet. I resawed this into 5 tops and will offer 4 here for $75 each, when i sanded them today, the last one had a stain at one end so i won't be selling it. (yes, I did save a couple of billets of this for myself). I will post a photo tomorrow, but if you want to buy based on the above photos now, go ahead. All of these tops are identical and 8 1/2" wide. Call these Billet 6 white spruce tops. All 4 sold Here is the latest update stuff. First a photo of the white spruce sets from the above billet. They all look absolutely identical, so I will post one photo to save space. These are $75 each and all are sold. Grant ________________________________________________________ next a White Spruce Classical size top Grant This has 12 to about 10 nice even grains/inch. Lt will make a 15 inch top classical or OM size, Ramirez classical outline drawn. This has some light gray staining at the outer edge, so I have dropped the price to $25. A very light "burst" would totally hide the stain. Sold ________________________________________________________ OK, I dug out a variety of cocobolo. So I am going to list it all now. This will probably be it for the coco for this swap. First the $125 sets These are from a curly coco log that I resawed about 4 years ago. Here are 3 sets that would be $175 sets if they did not have minor "issues". The sides on these sets are all 5 by 32 1/2 and are consecutive cut from the same fully quartersawn billet. Curly set 1 sold This set has a tiny tight spike knot and knot shadow "curl" at waist. Also a small check that extends about 3/8" into the waist on a dread outline. A very slightly narrower waist or fat purfling would cover it. Curly set 2 Sold This set has a similar knot/curl at the waist as set 1. Otherwise OK. I did repair a short crack at the top end with CA 2 years ago, it seems fine. Curly set 3 This set is OK except for a crack at the outer edge of the lower bout for a dread size. It will make a 15" body just fine. Or you could try a center backstrip and wide purfling for a bigger body. ________________________________________________________ Next a Budget Coco set This set has backs almost QS in center running to flatsawn at outer edge. Good solid wood, sides 5 by 32 1/2, backs 8 1/2. available, price reduced to $95 ________________________________________________________ 2 more Mostly Quartersawn sets Reduced to $135 each Backs are sisters from the same billet. Backs 8 1/2. These will oxidize and darken and even out in color. Coco set 5 Available Sides 5 1/4 by 33. Coco set 6 Available Backs 5 1/4 by 34 ________________________________________________________ next 2 more Fully Quartersawn sets These have backs from the same billet as the "Master Grade" set I offered in the first post. Extra wide, nice black lines and rich color, fine grained. Sides are sisters from a nicely matching billet, 5 by 34. $175 each Quartersawn Coco 3 Sold Quartersawn Coco4 Sold ________________________________________________________ next 3 more sets of Curly Burr Oak First an exact sister set to set 2 of my original post. See the photo above, it is identical. $65 Sold Then 2 sets from a different back billet. I will post one photo since both sets look exactly the same. These sets have sides 5 1/2 by 34, sanded to .090. Backs are very large and sanded to .130 These are $55 each Available ________________________________________________________ 6 additional quartersawn Honduran mahogany scarfed peghead neck blanks These are the additional 6 that I mentioned in my first post. Same as the first ones except 30" long. $20 each. All Sold, But I still have 8 of the off-quarter ones available at $12.50 each, these are now all sold That's it for now. I will need some time to get caught up with everybody's totals and shipping. Please PM me your address, etc. Thanks Grant |

One more request from me (I could ask in the WTB thread, but since I'm already getting some stuff from you the combined shipping makes sence): Do you have a couple of nice ziricote fingerboard and bridge blanks? |

Arnt, I will check on the ziricote fingerboard and bridge blanks, I think I have a couple. I will have the photos of the $125 coco sets up this afternoon. You get first pick. Got it, Kim. Grant |
