Anyone have a source for Gotoh 510 open back tuners with butter bean knobs. I had some on order but never received them from our local music store. I can't seem to locate them online anywhere.

Yep They have Gotoh open backs with butterbean knobs. They don't give the Gotoh part# so I am not sure they are the 510 series. I sent an email to find out and have not heard back plus they want $75 for them was hoping to find them for less.

You might check out this Gotoh dealer I heard about on the Larrivee forum. I haven't ordered any from him yet, but was thinking about giving them a call when I get ready to replace the Pings on my Larrivee with some 510's. I think most places don't want to deal with all the different options and button types that Gotoh offers, sounds like that if Gotoh carries it this guy will get it for you.

They too do not say these are the new 510 series. They very well may be as the gear ratio is right but you would think they would advertise them as 510's if they were.

I have the gotoh catalog, and cant tell any difference for the new 510 open backs to the older 700 series - they all have the same ratios, finishes, and button options. the back plate is the exact same size as well ...

oh - but the 510s do have the HAP (height adjustable post) option, the 700s dont.

Michael,

what is a butterbean knob? I know you might think I live in a cave but really it is only an igloo.... Anyway, let me know and also what finish do you want? Nickel, Chrome, Gold.....I will get you a price.

Tony,
They supposedly make 6 versions of the 510 open backs I believe 3 with with butter-bean knobs. only one version as I understand it has the HAP. The difference between the 510 and 700 is supposed to be the 510s are smother gear mesh.

Shane,
the butter bean knob is an elongated knob similar to Waverly's knobs. kind of the shape of a butter bean or Lima bean

I have the 2007 catalog for gotoh from my local supplier (Gary at Heinl's in Toronto)

There are 3 510s and 3 700 series open backs for vintage looking steel strings - plus one of each open back for strat style six inline, then there are two types of each closed backs like an old kluson.

You can order any of them with any of 10 different buttons. You can get all the 510s with either magnum lock or HAP, three of them also have HAPA, for angled headstocks to raise the string up and lesson the angle if you wish.

The std SE510 has a 20.5mm post while the 510E & 510W have 22mm post. Looks like the main difference is the bushing sizes between the main three styles

Then you have finish options - nickel, chrome, gold, cosmo black, Xgold, Xnickel, Xchrome

Take your pick ....
