Bob, I am tempted to put a bit on Argentina as well, though I'd like to see England/Argentina as the two best packs in the tournament, and I prefer forward rugby. England/France is too close to call at the moment, it's all according to whether the English pack can dominate enough to get the penalties for Wilkinson from the French.

What is is about the World Cup and New Zealand and Australia? They are the two best teams in the world, but just don't seem to 'turn up' at the World Cup? Yet France and England, who have been rubbish recently always seem to get one over on them.

To be quite honest Colin I'm not a big fan of "knockout" type competitions because they will only reflect a teams performance at a given point in time.

It's done here in Australia with the AFL, the national Rugby League competition and the new A league soccer comp.

The English Premier league has got it right, I feel, in that the team that has performed consistently throughout the season and sits on top of the standings deserves to be recognised as such.

The same type of rankings apply for Test and ODI cricket.

Don't get me started about 20/20 cricket because "it's really not cricket" as far as I'm concerned. It's a lottery as well. Give me a test match any day.

Having had my rant, lets hope to see some positive, attacking rugby through the remaining quarters and the semi between France and England and may the best team , on the day, prevail.

Bob
