Hey gang!
Here's my #2 build, featuring Padauk B/S, Engleman top, RW bindings, walnut/maple comp neck, red morrel headplate containing my very first hand-cut inlay (thanks to Bob Long for the chunks o' pearl!), ebony bridge, bone nut and saddle.
Once you get a finish on Padauk, it sure deepens in color! Coulda used just one more coat of sealer, noticed some open pores here and there. Overall, a really pretty tonewood and easy to work with.
Did a few things differently from my first build....watched the thickness on the back and sides a little closer (#2 guitar weighs in at right around 4lbs., first was closer to 4.5lbs). Bracing is mahogany once again, but went with parabolic versus scalloped this time. Getting a better finish, but not perfect yet...a little more removal of the Zpoxy woulda been a good thing! But all in all, I'm pretty happy with it. Also installed the Fishman Acoustic Matrix, the thing sounds beautiful with a flat EQ and just a smidge of reverb. Unplugged however, I'm not getting as much bass response as I'd like...compared to my first, anyway. Might that be from the bracing?
